History
2014 - today
Outsourcing
In 2015, the trading platform was outsourced in order to keep up with the competition. At first, this was done in collaboration with a German IT company. Later, in 2017, close cooperation with the Swiss banking group Swissquote followed. In recent years, UMushroom has been the cooperation partner for hosting this traditional game.
1999 - 2014
Evolution
New game modes, such as Risk Management, Derivative Version, Speed Version, and weekly prizes, are introduced. The frontend and backend of the game were migrated to open-source technologies in 2013 and 2014.
1992 - 1998
Expansion
The first edition of the Trading Contest was held in 1992, with orders submitted by post or fax and entered manually into the computer system. The game quickly generated enthusiasm across Switzerland, and soon it was also offered at the universities of Bern, Basel, and St. Gallen. In 1997, the platform was moved online, allowing orders to be entered daily and processed fully automatically.
1991
Founding
The non-profit association BSU was founded on October 20, 1991 by economics students Andreas Hüchting (Germany) and Harald K. Berg (Norway) at the University of Fribourg under the name SEFU (Stock Exchange of Fribourg University).
